When pursuing a nail technician education, many choose to specialize in pedicures. Taking highly specialized technical courses in techniques like spa and medical pedicures will help set you apart from others in the spa industry. With health safety a big consideration, it's vital to become educated and licensed in the proper pedicure technique and how to perform the service in the most sanitary way.
What You'll Learn
Pedicure programs will teach students the art and technique of one of the most sought after spa treatments there is -- the pedicure. Since all clients are different and may have special needs, it's important to be aware of a variety of pedicure techniques to ensure that the best treatment possible is applied. Students will also learn basic Skin Care, guidelines for health and safety, equipment maintenance, how to communicate with customers, and special nail technician skills such as foot baths, exfoliation techniques, scrubs, and more. At nail technician school, you'll have plenty of hands on training and complete any required hours for state licensing.

Plus, nail technician employment is projected to increase 18 to 26 percent through 2014. Add to that a pedicure expertise, and you'll increase your opportunities to work in more upscale spas and salons.
